THE PRESENTATION
As a group it is your
decision as to what order, and how, to present your material. It is strongly
suggested that you practice your performance using your outline ahead of time.
Submit a presentation
outline to your filmmaking teacher at least 24 hours before your presentation indicating the order you wish to proceed. Doing so will insure that your
presentation will run smoothly.
Everyone must speak and add substantially to the proceedings. If one or several of your group carry the load and you do little to contribute you will be marked down substantially.
Before you begin your presentation make sure to hand in all signed volunteer forms from all members of your group. Please place all of the forms in a single folder. Make sure your production company is named on the folder. The organization representative may be called to confirm your participation.
THE BOOK
Make sure to hand in your book before you take the stage.
THE INTRODUCTION
Introduce your Production Company and team members and state the intent of your PSS. Although the video is the main focus of your PSS, it does not define your PSS. All of the supporting material and your oral presentation are instrumental in creating a complete Public Service Statement.
THE VIDEO
Please indicate when you wish the video to be played and the house lights will be reduced.
THE ORAL PRESENTATION - reflection
THE NARRATIVE PATH
Share your experiences so the audience knows what occurred during the course of this project. Talk about difficulties, obstacles and the unexpected and how the group dealt with them.
Any pleasant surprises or rude awakenings? Most gratifying moment? Worst most depressing time? An AHA! moment? What did you learn not only about the problem you were investigating but about yourself? Remember everyone must speak during the group presentation. In addition every member of the groups must address the following question:
HOW DID THIS PROJECT AFFECT ME ON A PERSONAL LEVEL?
Do not address this question in linear fashion and go in a line from individual to individual, instead, interweave your thoughts organically into your group’s presentation.
As a group speak about your volunteer service experience. Every crewmember must reflect on this experience and share their insight.
POWER POINT
To support your oral presentation you are required to submit a PowerPoint Presentation that will visually (photos, drawings, statistics, video, video outtakes, book excerpts, etc.) support your group while you present. This is a tool that adds to the presentation, not the focus of the presentation. What is said by all team members will make up the majority of your grade for the oral presentation.
You may designate a team member to run the slide show or indicate to you instructor when you want a slide to change.
Q & A
The floor will be opened at the end of your presentation for your instructors and audience to ask questions. All group members must participate in this Q&A.
